In case you want to keep your .html extensions, you'll have to force server to process PHP codes in .html files. On some servers this can be done via .htaccess configuration file ( more details here: http://www.cubescripts.com/instant-update/wiki/install:tricks#force_php_in_.html_pages ), but on some servers you'll need to ask your web host provider to do that for you.

Note: This is a link to Instant Update documentation but as this is server related issue, it applies to all (our) scripts.

I've seen and read these instructions many times, tried codes etc. and am not having any success.
I think going by what you've written, as in how to add comments to any web page, I'm now supposed to buy Instant Updates?
Is that right?

No, you don't have. But the instructions for IU work for Comment script also so I've given link to IU documentation.
